Starting at Commercial?

Hi,

I am looking into possibly starting ATP. I currently have Private with Instrument and about 350 hours, but would like to get on a fast track for finishing up ratings than what I am currently on. Is there a way to jump into Commercial or would I have to start at another point?

Alex,

ATP has 2 entry points, zero time and credit for you PPL. If you start now you would be starting from the your PPL and would repeat the IR phase but simply wouldn’t need a checkride. The cost of the program would be the same.

Adam

Alex,

As Adam said, unfortunately you would have to back track some and either start at Private or Credit private (instrument). If you’re having a tough time getting through a local school quickly and in budget, it could be worth re-doing the instrument phase to get in to an accelerated program.

As part of the extra cost, you’re also getting an opportunity to instruct with ATP after program completion, access to dozens of cadet pathway programs and tuition reimbursement.

Hannah

Alex,

ATP only has two (2) program entries with the ACPP: Zero Time and Credit Private. Since you’re so far already into your flying, do you feel it would be beneficial to repeat your Instrument? If you found a local school that could create a custom program and accelerate your ratings, would you do that? As Hannah mentioned, the extra cost of ATP provides a lot of opportunities and avenues post training, which is one of the major factors in choosing the right flight school up front.
