I have 4 face tattoos. One is my daughters name, another is the word “lover”, and then I have a small heart and my zodiac sign. It is my passion to become and airline pilot, but I don’t want to waste my time pursuing a career that may not even be possible. Will these face tattoos hinder this?

Unless you can cover them WELL with makeup they will absolutely be a problem. Every airline in the country has a rule against “visible tattoos”.

I would get the tattoos removed. Very few professional jobs are tolerant of visible tattoos, especially face tattoos.

I agree, laser removal is the best option. Even with good makeup, after a 12 hour duty and (especially a hot one), that tattoo will probably peek out. It wouldn’t be worth worrying about everyday for the rest of your career.

I have a hand tattoo can I wear gloves or do I have to remove it?
You can’t wear gloves. The only approved hand tattoo at some airlines is a wedding ring tattoo.

This is most likely a redundant question considering the answers above, but I have a tattoo on my arm that goes from above my elbow down to half of my forearm, would it be possible to wear a long sleeve shirt instead of a short sleeve? I’ve already come to terms that I might have to remove it, it’s just not within my budget yet.
All tattoos need to be covered. At many airlines, you can wear the long sleeve shirt year round, but it also requires wearing the hat and jacket year round. I would get it removed.

When you get to the airline world, you will unfortunately have to keep all tattoos covered when in uniform.
Here is an excerpt from my company’s FOM on tattoos:
- While in uniform, conceal any tattoos.

This is a very interesting question; I have been seeing more and more finger/hand tattoos in recent years. Can you be a little more detailed by “hand tattoo?” Does it cover your entire hand, is it on the palm of your hand? Does it cover the top of your hand, is it removable?

Hey Brady Yes it covers the top of my hand. Is a compass but I don’t mind getting it removed.

Sounds like you’ll have to get that removed or spend quite a bit of time everyday with concealing power or cream. If you’re planning on a career as an airline pilot, removing it would be wise.
