Hi everyone, I’m looking forward to get started with ATP flying school program in a few month and would like to find a few answers for myself before I get started.
Would it be possible to work part time as an Uber & Lyft driver while I’m full time student in ATP flying school. How’s the schedule of the training look like? I do understand it is pretty condensed and tight training but still… Is it possible to make some side money while in school? I’m in Denver CO so there’s plenty of work here, my main concern is if I will have time to go work a little.
This is America and no one can tell you what to do. This question gets asked often and our answer is always the same. Working during the program is HIGHLY discouraged. This is an accelerated program taking what usually takes years and compressing it into months. Most people find it very challenging with no outside distractions and even if there’s time in your schedule it needs to be used for study or rest. Again you can do as you like but if you fall behind ATP will not be sympathetic or offer more time. Busting more than a couple of checkrides could seriously impact your career.
I would really recommend against working in any capacity while in the program. I can see where the idea might look attractive, but it will absolutely have an effect on your training. This is a highly condensed program where every minute needs to be spent on flying, studying or rest. Working is going to take away from one of those, and could have a serious effect on the outcome of your training.
