Better Pay at a Regional with a Degree?

Do regional airlines offer better pay to pilots who already have a college degree?

Imran,

No airline, regional or major, or any flying job that I know of, pay more to those that hold a 4-yr degree. The pay scales and all other things pay related are set forth via contract negotiations. In the most general sense, pay is based on years of service.

Thanks

I should add that the degree is still a good thing to have for competitiveness purposes when applying to the majors. Without it is like putting all of your eggs in a very small basket. Flows aren’t all they’re cracked up to be. So, I wouldn’t advise relying on them.

Thanks very much

Imran,

As Tory said ALL airlines in the US have set fixed payscales based on seniority and aircraft type. Pilots all work under a CBA (Collective Bargaining Agreement) which is negotiated by the union (or similar association). The CBA governs all pay and work rules for all pilots at the airline.
