Good evening all,
So I am a 30 year old lady and I decided last year I wanted to fly. I fell in love and know I want to become a pilot. I only have 12 hours of logged instructor hours, which isn’t a lot but I know flying is something I love to do everytime I take off. What do I need to do to make this dream a reality? I currently have some college but never finished. Currently I’m a sophomore/Jr by credits. Should I finish school first with a degree in aviation science or does it even matter?
Thank you,
Sonja
Sonja,
At 30 you’re not old but the clock is ticking. Id recommend you do your training first, get your licenses and ratings, build your time and then when you’re at a Regional, you could use your college credits and credit for your licenses and ratings to get your degree online in short order.

Sonja,
Welcome to the forum. At thirty you are certainly not ahead of the curve time wise. I would look into a school with an accelerated flight training option and dedicate yourself to training full time if you are able. After you get your ratings, you can go back and focus on your college later as many schools will give you credit for flight training.

Sonja,
Since you already have some hours of instruction, I think you should be looking at a program like ATP. You aren’t questioning whether you enjoy flying or not, it’s a matter of “is now the right time,” and yes - now is.
I would finish the remainder of your credits post flight training during your time building, as long as you can be dedicated to returning to complete it. Chris linked good information on using your flight training certificates for college credits.
