Is the 65 retirement age only for American pilot's

Does the 65 retirement age apply globally or only for US based pilots?

Japan allows pilots to fly till 67 and some are more restrictive than the US. It can vary by country but 65 is pretty much the norm. Regardless many airlines also have a max age to start so if you’re thinking you can fly here till 65 then go elsewhere that’s not going to happen.

I wouldn’t plan on flying past 65. In addition to the rules that govern this, there comes a point where people are just not comfortable with a pilot that is beyond a certain age flying them around.
