Mike, 29

Hello my name is Mike, I’m 29 I work in skilled trades as a hvac repair technician for the past 7 years. I have some college just enough to get into the trades, I’ve always wanted to be a pilot but never pursued it since the trades is what my family does and it was easy to get into. Now I want to make a career change and do what I always wanted. I just don’t know where to start.

Welcome Micheal,

The best place to start is here: Frequently Asked Questions - Airline Pilot Life

We also recommend taking, at a minimum, an intro flight. A few formal lessons may also be necessary for some. These flights help people decide if flying as a career is a good fit.

Intro fights, medical certificates, flight school selection, expectations, pilot pay, written tests and more is all discussed in more detail in the FAQ section that I linked above.

Please let us know what other questions you have and, again, welcome to the forum.
