Passing the medical with a history of sleep apnea?

I have been looking into becoming a pilot for a bit now, but haven’t actually started anything due to current time constraints. I would like to know however what I would need to do regarding an AME examination if I have a history of sleep apnea.
A while back I was diagnosed with it, but it is due to a physical abnormality in my throat and jaw which I am going to have surgery to fix. If this surgery fixes my sleep apnea, would the diagnosis still on my record cause problems if I no longer have it? For instance would I need another sleep study to get it ‘undiagnosed’ so to speak, or would there be other ways of getting around it?
If this is a question best answered by an AME personally, what would be the best way to go about doing that, and is there any way I would be able to ask without having to schedule a full consultation?

Thanks!

Fiona,

Every case is different so you will need to consult with an AME. Google search one in your area and schedule a consult. There really is no other way.
