In light of Thanksgiving, I just wanted to say thank you to all of the pilot contributors on this forum. I am on this forum often and continue to find the insight offered here helpful, honest and sobering. I’m 40 and have have the steady thought mulling around of pursuing aviation as a new career (currently I’m the founding pastor of the church I pastor). This forum has helped me to put legs to these dreams, ask the hard questions and bring others into this decision.
While I’ve not yet decided on what to do with these dreams, the forum has helped me to pursue my private pilot’s certificate (I’m halfway there). It’s helping me make a more informed decision. If the day comes when I move forward with aviation, my decision to attend ATP will be in large part due to this forum. So, like many on here, I say thanks. Thank you for giving us a window into the realties of what being a professional pilot is.

Thank you for your kind words. While I may seem gruff at times, I actually really enjoy participating in this forum. Just as in the airlines, without the passengers we wouldn’t have jobs, same goes here. Without you folks coming on and asking stu… I mean thoughtful questions ;), I wouldn’t have the opportunity to do some guiding and mentoring. Many people helped me on my journey and it’s incredibly rewarding to try and pay it forward (plus ATP allows me to vent from time to time).
Once again thank you sir for thanking us, and to you and everyone else who’s within earshot Happy Thanksgiving. I’m extremely fortunate and wish the same to all.
