Curious if any of you have gotten accepted to a cadet program either at the beginning of your training or in the midst of your training at ATP?
Kristen,
Depends on the cadet program, do you have one in mind? ATP provides an entire list of cadet programs that are partnered with the airlines and flight school, you just have to check their requirements. Depending on the sought cadet program, you may start as soon as you get your Private Pilot Certificate or have to wait until you reach 500 hours total time; there may be restrictions like “you have to instructor for a partner flight school” etc.

Kristen,
As Brady said, every cadet program has a different set of entry requirements. If I were you, I would wait until you finish the program before stressing about applying for cadet programs. There’s typically some sort of interview required with technical questions. You’ll want to put your best foot forward and prep accordingly.
As soon as I finished instructor indoc with ATP, I started applying to cadet programs. The first one I did, I didn’t quite know what to expect and was unsuccessful. After that, I made sure that didn’t happen again. I prepared for each like it was the airline interview to get an FO position. In reality, it basically is.

Hi Brady,
I was interested in Frontier since I had worked there previously. Someone in admissions had encouraged me to apply there now. I appreciate both you and Hannah’s responses.
Kristen
Thank you for this information.
Kristen
Kristen,
Frontier’s program is unique in that you can apply to the program before you even start training. Here is the link for more information:

Kristen,
I would love to hear any progress you make with the F9 Frontier program if you end up applying for it - It definitely seems like an amazing program! With the Frontier program, from what I’ve read, it looks like you can apply as soon as you start training. I will look forward to seeing any updates from you on the topic!
Good luck as you begin your flight training!
-Steve
I did just that. Fingers crossed.
Kristen
Hi Steve,
I applied to the program a week ago and haven’t heard back yet. Their email said it typically take a few weeks for them to go through applications. I previously worked at F9 so I am hoping that helps. I’ll keep you updated as soon as I know more.
Thanks,
Kristen
Kristen,
I applied for and was accepted into United’s Aviate program. I applied just after my instrument checkride, and had my interview just after my commercial checkride. Its a lot of work to prepare for the interview, but if you know where you want to go, apply to the program you feel fits you best!

I applied for the F9 Cadet Program in January and received an email invitation for a video interview around the 9th of February. I completed the video interview on the 15th of February and have not heard back since.
Nathan,
Sending you the best of luck, I am sure they will love you. Hope to see a F9 cadet acceptance update from you soon.
Kristen
Hi Stephen,
Just wanted to let you know that Frontier sent me an invitation to interview. I’ll update you as soon as I hear a post interview update.
Kristen
Hannah,
I got the invite to interview. Fingers crossed!
Kristen
Dude that’s awesome! Congrats - I greatly appreciate the updates! Good luck!
Kristen,
Congrats!! That’s huge! Please keep us updated on how it goes
Hannah
Kristen,
Congratulations on the interview for Frontier (F9)! Please let us know how things go.
Brady
I interviewed last week - just waiting to hear if I made it to the final. I had heard from others that a recruiter had reached out as quickly as a week from the first interview and as long as two months. Sounds like HR is pretty busy right now, it might be a bit before I hear anything. In the meantime I have been going through King Schools ground school courses.
Just wanted to let you know that a friend at Frontier told me that they are getting about 3000 applications a month for the cadet program and that doesn’t include internals. He said that the recruiters are extremely backed up so if it takes a while to hear back, that is why.
Kristen,
I can only imagine what it’s like for these airline companies with thousands of applications being submitted at once. You’re still awaiting to hear back, I presume?
