Flex Track Scheduling

Hello,

I’m almost finished with my PPL at a local school and am considering enrolling in the flex track at ATP for the rest of my training. I do work full-time, but my schedule is such that I usually at least four full days per week that I can train. I understand that in the flex track, I would submit availability at least 7 days in advance (I know my schedule a couple of months out usually) and that I would be scheduled based on that. My question is what amount of available time is likely to translate into scheduled time. It looks like the timeframe for finishing up from instrument onwards is 12 months, but I think I could get done sooner than that. For what it’s worth most of the time I could be available any time of day 3 or 4 days per week, a mix of weekdays and weekends. I’d also be available for at least a few hours on 1-2 additional days weekly.

Any input is much appreciated.

Doug,

You’d really need to speak with admin, but my understanding is you can fly more and accelerate (based on instructor availability) it’s just not guaranteed.

Doug,

With that kind of availability, I suspect that you would be able to finish a bit sooner. I recommend checking with admin for an official answer on this.

Do keep I mind though that the program is not just about flying, the book work takes significant time as well and it is harder to rush that.

Doug,

The flex track program only requires a minimum amount of monthly training, but it’s almost the same program as the fast track program. So hypothetically speaking it would be possible to finish the flex track program in the same amount of time it would take someone to complete the fast track program. Now obviously that scenario is not likely to happen, but I just wanted to point out that the total time to complete the flex track program is ultimately up to you.

Thanks everyone. I’m just trying to be as efficient as possible about this, certainly not expecting or wanting to rush through. I’ll do some more investigating, but this is encouraging so far.
