When I was reading the essential info for the Sheppard study software for the IRA test, it specifically said not to attempt to take the FII test after studying this database. From what I remember, everyone said to take the FII test immediately after the IRA test.
Sheppard only allows you to study for one test at a time, so do I disregard their warning and take FII right after IRA or do I take IRA, then gain access to their FII database and take that test after finishing the software for FII?
They make their money by selling you test prep software. It would be bad for business for them to tell you to double up. I took both tests on the same day last week and didn’t see a single question I hadn’t seen before. Hope this helps!
Thanks man. When you studied for private, did you exclusively use kings? Were the questions exactly the same as their practice questions? Numbers and everything?
I did use Kings exclusively for my PPL. I found their methods to be extremely effective in learning actual concepts as opposed to just memorizing answers. If I recall correctly, MOST of the questions were exactly the same, except for a couple of the ones requiring calculations for things like weight and balance. But because of how the material is taught, I was able to use that knowledge and apply it. Ended up missing only two questions on the test.
I feel I have also learned a decent amount of the concepts. My problem is I haven’t had an opportunity to practice some of the measuring problems because it is on the computer screen. How did you practice those problems where you are drawing a line from airport to airport? Or measuring using the legend? Did you print the diagrams and charts out for those problems? Or were you eyeballing it and holding your flight comp up to the computer screen?
I actually just completed my IRA and FII tests yesterday after I studied the Sheppard IRA question bank. I actually did much better on the FII, got 82 and 94. Happy I got them done none the less, I have a memorial day start at ATP- San diego can’t wait!
