I recently decided to apply to ATP to become an airline pilot and wanted to study for my writtens and take them before my first class date. I will be using Sheppard Air to study for my IRA, CAX, FOI, FIA, and FII. However, what should I use for my PAR? I’ve heard Sporty’s Study Buddy app is the way to go but recent reviews say that only about 40% of their questions are on the actual PAR exam (one reviewer was saying this after taking the exam in October 2024). Anyone have any other apps/websites that are more reliable?
I like the study buddy because its cheap, and it hotlinks the locations of the answers in the PHAK, FAR/AIM, AFH, AWH, etc. Really helpful to get instant feedback on every question in form of “right/wrong, here’s why, and here are links to where the right answer is” versus just a right/wrong
the expensive ones (only one I looked into was the main Sportys “Pilot Training” course, the 300 dollar one), will give you an endorsement for a written after completing a course and a couple practice tests. Study Buddy does not.
Weirdly enough, sportys Pilot Training uses the same exact questions in their study sessions as the study buddy, but only shows right/wrong, no explanations or hotlinks to answers. So in that aspect, study buddy is far superior
Adam even complimented that post and even said I deserved some Chick-fil-A, he knows me well.
In all honesty, Sporty’s Study Buddy App will prepare you for as much as you prepare yourself. You won’t be spoon fed anything in this field, and even Sheppard Air makes you put the work in/just a different format.
Yeah I saw that, very weird haha. I did see that ASA also has a brand new exam prep guide coming out in early November and they give you an endorsement as well. Only $30
I’m not sure if the free ASA private prep guide is still available on the App Store. If so that’s what I used 6 years ago and scored well with it! You can always utilize both to increase your chances of seeing all the available test questions.
